Before Your Private Yacht Charter in Croatia

Depending on the charter, we may need passenger names, passport details, contact information, dietary requirements, food and drink preferences, travel details and boating qualifications. Complete the requested Passenger Info and preference information by the stated deadline so the operator and crew have time to prepare.

The operator needs the required passenger details for the vessel records and applicable guest-registration requirements. Sending the information in advance also avoids wasting boarding time completing administration.

Your group does. Bareboat means the boat; skipper-only means the boat plus a skipper. If you have not added a Host, your group is responsible for shopping, provisioning, preparing meals, washing dishes and looking after the interior living areas.

Host/ess (Host) services generally include assistance with provisioning and shopping, preparing breakfast and light lunches, washing dishes and normal interior housekeeping. The Host fee pays for the service; groceries, food and drinks are additional.

It can make the first day easier, particularly for a larger group. Depending on the vessel, you can shop after arrival, pre-order provisions, arrange provisioning through the operator or have your Host assist. The cost of the provisions is additional.

On the gulets we commonly quote, half-board normally means breakfast plus one main meal each day, commonly lunch. The exact meal pattern, whether a lunch can be swapped for dinner and any included drinks are vessel-specific and must be checked in the individual offer.

On many gulets it is an obligatory additional package unless the individual offer states otherwise. The calculator currently uses €550 per person/week as a planning amount, but the actual gulet price controls.

Not automatically. Some gulets offer drinks packages; others use an onboard bar or pay-as-you-go account. Ask to see the current drinks list or package inclusions at the start of the charter and keep track of the account during the week.

It depends on the individual vessel. Some permit outside drinks subject to a corkage or service arrangement, while others require drinks to be purchased from the onboard bar or package. Do not assume BYO is permitted; check the written gulet offer.

Usually they can be catered for with advance notice, but allergies, special diets and strong preferences should be supplied early in the preference information and confirmed for the individual vessel.

The operator or crew should show you the cabins, bathrooms, storage areas, safety equipment, life jackets, emergency procedures and the onboard systems relevant to passengers. Bareboat charters also require a detailed vessel handover to the person responsible for operating the yacht.

Tell us your priorities before travelling, then discuss the practical route with the skipper or captain. Private charter is flexible, so the final itinerary can be adjusted around conditions and your group's preferences.

Yes. Wind, sea conditions, berth availability and other safety factors can change departure times, overnight stops or the route itself. The skipper or captain has final responsibility for safe operation.

It depends on the gulet and where it is berthed. In port, shore power may be available; in bays, air-conditioning may require a generator. Generator operating hours and noise restrictions vary, and generators themselves can be audible. Check the individual vessel specification.

Only if the equipment or activity is specifically listed as included for your yacht. Kayaks or paddleboards may be stored out of sight when not in use. Powered watersports can involve fuel, operating charges, licensing requirements or local restrictions.

No. Personal watercraft are subject to licensing and local rules. Check the current requirements before travelling if you intend to use a jet ski or other powered equipment.

Port, marina and mooring charges are commonly additional unless your quote specifically includes them. Ask the Captain/skipper for the likely cost of the proposed route before setting off. Payment method varies by operator and marina, so follow the written instructions.

Have access to EUR for local charter expenses. Some suppliers require specific costs in cash; others accept cards or another method. Do not assume every expense can be paid the same way.

Yes. Keep a written receipt for payments made directly to crew, marinas or local suppliers. If a charge is unclear, ask what it covers before paying it.

Ask to see the current drinks prices when you board, understand who can put items on the account, and check the running total during the week. Do not wait until the last evening to discover the total.

Report it as soon as it occurs. Contact the Captain/operator first and give them a reasonable opportunity to correct it. Contact us if further help is required. Keep written records, receipts, photographs or video where relevant.

Use the transfer or emergency contact details supplied with your documents and call or text them promptly. If the transfer still cannot be resolved and you need to arrange alternative transport, keep a written receipt and contact us as soon as practicable.

Gratuities are not included. Tipping is discretionary and depends on the vessel, number of crew and service provided. If you want current guidance for the particular charter, ask before departure rather than relying on an old generic percentage.

The yacht is normally checked on return. You may need to refill fuel according to the charter conditions, and damage or missing equipment can be assessed under the applicable deposit or waiver. Follow the check-out instructions in your charter agreement.
